Web application development
I build web apps in React, Vue, and Angular, and I modernize old ones. I started in web development in 2014 at a Chicago agency, building client sites in PHP and Node, and I still enjoy the work. Accessible, fast, and maintainable by whoever comes after me.
Work I've done
- At Health iPass: the patient portal redesign and custom branding brought in $1.1 million a year in new revenue.
- At Vokal: Vue 2 SPA architecture with Vuex and Vue Router for enterprise clients, including analytics heatmaps for United Airlines.
- At SuprTEK: Angular and React front ends for Air Force planners, tested with the people who use them. New engineer onboarding went from two weeks to one day.
- At Conversant Media: rebuilt the analytics, monitoring, and ad revenue dashboards.
- At Hackhands and Pluralsight: five years of one on one mentoring in JavaScript, Node, TypeScript, Angular, and Ember.
How I work
Accessible markup, then styling, then interaction. I check performance on an actual phone, not only in a desktop dev build.

- Can you modernize an older Angular, jQuery, or PHP front end?
- I've moved dashboards and portals to React and Vue incrementally, keeping the product live the whole time.
- Do you do design as well as development?
- UX and interface work, yes, and I've led portal redesigns. For brand identity I'd rather bring in a designer.
